If you were flicking through the channels after midnight in the early 2000s,\u00a0British television<\/span><\/a>\u00a0could become a very different place. The normal\u00a0schedule<\/span><\/a>\u00a0had ended. The serious news programmes were long gone. And suddenly the TV listings started looking a little\u2026 mischievous.<\/p>\n

Long before cam platforms and creator subscriptions like\u00a0OnlyFans<\/span><\/a>, the late-night hours belonged to a strange and wonderful mix of phone-in shows, adult video previews, cheeky glamour segments and the occasional experimental programme that seemed to exist purely because nobody else was watching at that time of night.<\/p>\n

It was chaotic, unpredictable and often completely ridiculous. But it also paved the way for something that would eventually change late-night television: the babeshow – more specifically Babestation.<\/p>\n

The Age of Channel Surfing After Midnight<\/b><\/p>\n

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, satellite television had exploded across the UK. Suddenly there were hundreds of channels, and broadcasters were trying all sorts of strange formats to fill the overnight hours. Some channels showed\u00a0adult video<\/span><\/a>\u00a0previews advertising subscription services.<\/p>\n

Others ran quirky phone-in programmes where viewers could call the studio and chat live on air. A few channels experimented with glamour segments featuring\u00a0big tit models<\/span><\/a>\u00a0chatting to the camera while viewers rang premium-rate numbers.If you stayed up late enough, television felt like a completely different world.<\/p>\n

When Phones Started Running the Show<\/b><\/p>\n

This was also the moment when mobile phones became everyday items. Text messaging and\u00a0sexting<\/span><\/a>\u00a0was suddenly everywhere. People were downloading ringtones, logos and wallpapers, and TV producers quickly realised something important \u2014 viewers were willing to interact with shows using their phones.<\/p>\n

So television began encouraging viewers to:<\/p>\n
