The UK\u2019s most best-known adult brand says Britain\u2019s new adult site law hasn\u2019t impacted usage with traffic looking \u201chighly positive\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Babestation, which celebrates 23 years since its inception in 2002, offers a mixture of live cam and phone sex services \u2013 both online and on TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 25 July, a change to the UK\u2019s Online Safety Act saw adult companies forced to perform an age verification check on all users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was brought in as a measure to protect children from being able to easily access adult content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The response from the adult industry has been mixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One company, called xHamster \u2013 which claims to have six million \u201chardcore sex\u201d videos on its site \u2013 told The News Movement that traffic had \u201cdecreased by 85%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But other brands welcome the change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 1 August, Ofcom announced that it had opened \u201cformal investigations\u201d into four providers which operate 34 sites, with over nine million unique UK monthly visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The regulator has said it \u201ccan impose fines of up to \u00a318m or 10% of qualifying worldwide revenue\u201d if it finds a brand has failed to comply with the new law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
