Nord<\/a><\/strong> says the law has already affected both her income and her Swedish fanbase.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\u201cLast year, Sweden passed a law delegalising on-demand or live sexual acts online,\u201d the 26-year-old said.\u00a0 \u201cThis makes buying this kind of content a sexual offence just like prostitution in Sweden.\u00a0 \u201cThe content in question is only aimed at customised and interactive content, meaning camming and custom videos on adult content platforms.\u00a0Pre-recorded pornography is still legal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma said she was devastated when she realised Swedish followers could no longer engage with her in the same way.\u00a0 She said: \u201cMy reaction to this was devastating as this affects my fan base in Sweden.\u00a0They can\u2019t interact with me anymore and order custom videos.\u00a0I always loved being personal with my fans and getting to know them and their desires.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma believes the legislation unfairly stigmatises adult creators and wrongly lumps online performers into the same legal conversation as prostitution.\u00a0She said: \u201cThis definitely makes my country treat us as criminals and legally class us alongside prostitution instead of performers.\u00a0I respect all kinds of sex work and the women and men in the industry, but laws preventing this are not going to make it safer for us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Babestation star says the changes have already had a direct financial impact.\u00a0Emma said: \u201cI definitely lost income and fans due to this.\u00a0Many sites have even taken the Swedish ethnicity away as an option.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also believes politicians misunderstand the realities of digital adult work.\u00a0The Babestation model said: \u201cThe misconceptions that we are getting forced or lured into this is ridiculous.\u00a0\u201cBeing online gives us the option to tap out and say no without putting us in harm\u2019s way as face-to-face interactions do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emma claims some creators have even chosen to leave Sweden altogether because of the stigma attached to the industry.\u00a0 Emma said: \u201cI know creators who left the country because of this law.\u00a0Not so much for the law itself but how the country views us creators.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says one of the biggest contradictions is that creators can still upload explicit videos online, but personalised interactions with paying fans can potentially become illegal.\u00a0The model said: \u201cSo I\u2019m allowed to film myself doing all sorts of things.\u00a0\u201cBut as soon as I called out every Tom, Dick or Harry I made it illegal?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson for Babestation, one of the world\u2019s biggest webcam platforms, said the law could end up driving parts of the online adult industry underground rather than protecting performers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They said: \u201cInteractive adult content allows performers to work in a controlled online environment where they can set boundaries and engage with their audiences on their own terms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
