Babestation X: The History of BSX Live

Babestation X—now better known as BSX—grew from Babestation’s experiments with encrypted adult television into one of the best-known explicit live-show brands in British adult broadcasting.

Over the years, the service has appeared under several names, moved through different television formats and featured numerous British pornstars and Babestation favourites. Its history includes early encrypted programming, live hardcore shows on Freeview and even what was promoted as the world’s first adult 3D television broadcast.

Before Babestation X: Live XXX and Encrypted Adult Television

Before the Babestation Xtreme name appeared, Cellcast had already experimented with more explicit encrypted television through services such as Live XXX.

These early broadcasts combined free-to-air promotional periods with adult programming that viewers paid to unlock. At a time when most Freeview boxes did not support conventional subscription cards, viewers could gain access using a PIN supplied after calling a premium-rate telephone number.

This provided an early model for bringing harder adult content to television while keeping it separate from Babestation’s free-to-air live babeshows.

The Launch of Babestation Xtreme

Babestation Xtreme developed the idea into a service carrying explicit live and prerecorded adult entertainment under the Babestation name.

The concept was simple: viewers who knew Babestation from its live babeshows could move into a more explicit environment featuring established Babestation models and British pornstars.

The service combined Babestation’s live, interactive heritage with harder adult performances that could not be shown on its standard free-to-air programmes.

Babestation Xtreme Comes to Freeview

Babestation Xtreme became available through Freeview, bringing explicit pay-to-view adult programming to a much wider television audience.

The service evolved through different broadcast slots and channel positions, but its Freeview presence was important. It gave viewers access to explicit Babestation content through an ordinary television platform rather than requiring a separate adult satellite subscription or an internet porn site.

Classic shows from this period featured a mixture of Babestation favourites and established British adult performers.

The World’s First Adult 3D Television Broadcast

One of the most unusual moments in Babestation Xtreme history came in June 2010, when the service promoted what it described as the world’s first adult 3D television broadcast.

3D Sex Fantasies was scheduled to premiere on Freeview Channel 96 at midnight on Sunday 20 June 2010. The programme used anaglyph 3D technology, allowing viewers to watch with traditional coloured 3D glasses.

The Sport supported the event by distributing more than 150,000 free pairs of glasses with its Sunday issue. This turned the broadcast into both an adult television event and an experiment in an emerging home-entertainment technology.

The original Babestation Xtreme 3D special press release remains in the Babestation archive. Technology publication HEXUS also reported on the adult 3D television premiere at the time.

From Babestation Xtreme to Babestation X

As the service developed, the name was shortened from Babestation Xtreme to Babestation X.

The shorter name retained the clear connection with Babestation while giving the explicit service a more distinctive identity of its own. Babestation X continued to feature live adult shows, pornstar specials and explicit performances from models familiar to Babestation viewers.

Babestation X Becomes BSX

The brand was later shortened again to BSX.

The BSX name was easier to use across television listings, online video and digital promotion, but the idea behind the service remained the same: explicit live entertainment featuring Babestation models and leading names from the British adult industry.

BSX built up a large archive of live shows, lesbian scenes, two-girl performances and pornstar specials. Performers featured across the different eras include Jasmine Jae, Jasmine James, Michelle Thorne, Beth Bennett, Zoe Grey, Tina Kay, Dionne Mendez, Veronica Vice and Ava Dalush.

Classic Babestation X Live Shows

The Babestation X archive captures an important part of British adult television history. Unlike conventional prerecorded porn, many BSX performances retained the spontaneity and directness of a live babeshow.

Viewers could see familiar Babestation personalities in more explicit performances, while established pornstars brought their experience to live television specials.

The surviving footage ranges from early Freeview broadcasts and vintage pornstar appearances to longer live shows featuring two or more performers.
