In a recent episode of the Option One Podcast, glamour model Alex Sim-Wise shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes look at her time working as an extra on the 2008 crime thriller The Bank Job.
The 44-year-old model recalled a series of bizarre interactions with Hollywood action star Jason Statham while she was playing a 1970s stripper on the set. The first awkward exchange happened during a filming break. While she was wandering around with rollers in her hair looking for a stylist, Statham emerged from the men’s toilets and joked that she should join him inside. Alex took it in good humour and simply ran upstairs.
They shared another funny moment while filming a repetitive scene that involved Alex getting a pint of beer poured over her about 50 times. Watching the arduous process, the actor commented that he hoped she was being paid well for the hassle. Alex playfully replied that she was actually being paid in bourbon biscuits, a joke she says Statham completely believed.
However, the strangest part of the job wasn’t her chats with the leading man. To complete her authentic 1970s look, Alex revealed she’d been paid extra to wear a “merkin”, a pubic wig, beneath a sheer G-string. Despite the surprise of having it glued on by a wardrobe assistant, she didn’t want to miss out on the film and happily went along with the chaos.
