If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like behind the scenes of Babestation, the answer might surprise you. While the cameras roll and the babes take centre stage, there’s a whole world of creative direction, professionalism, and unexpected empowerment at play.

A feature originally published in Cosmopolitan in June 2017 offered an honest and colourful account from a former producer, Kathryn Vinclaire, who shared her time working with us. Her journey—from film school to the bright lights of a live adult channel—isn’t as unusual as it might sound. Many people arrive at Babestation from diverse backgrounds, and bring with them passion, talent, and an open mind.

Kathryn’s role was both technical and human. Working through the night shift, she helped manage the production of multiple live channels, kept the content within strict regulatory boundaries, and worked closely with the on-screen presenters to guide their performances while ensuring everything remained within Ofcom rules.

Despite some of the more bizarre moments—cream cheese incidents included—what comes through is a workplace that’s both lively and respectful. The presenters, affectionately known as ‘the babes’, ranged in age from 18 to over 60, and came from varied backgrounds. What united them was confidence, charisma, and control. Far from being exploited, they set their own boundaries, chose their own hours, and were well-compensated for their time.

Kathryn described a studio full of camaraderie, humour, and, surprisingly, a lot of female leadership. Most of the production team were women, creating a dynamic that helped everyone feel comfortable and empowered. It wasn’t uncommon to hear playful banter mixed with professional direction—adjusting lighting, angling shots, and reminding talent about wardrobe rules.

Contrary to popular assumptions, Babestation isn’t about chaos or sleaze—it’s about creating a fantasy within a framework. Regulations are tight. There’s no actual sex, no touching, and everything shown must meet broadcasting standards. Behind the sexy outfits and playful teasing is a complex system of cues, limits, and performance art.

There’s also a real sense of connection between presenters and viewers. Some callers just want someone to talk to. Others might become regulars. While those connections are always based in fantasy, they reflect something human—people looking to be heard, flirted with, entertained. And the presenters? They’re in control every step of the way.

Gifts would occasionally arrive for the babes—flowers, lingerie, the occasional oversized surprise. Birthdays were celebrated. And throughout it all, the presenters maintained professionalism and poise, even after hours of dancing, posing, and performing.

For Kathryn, the experience was unexpectedly enriching. It challenged her assumptions about sexuality and performance, and left her with both admiration for the women on-screen and a fresh sense of personal empowerment. In her words, working at Babestation didn’t dull her own sexuality—it expanded it.

There are always going to be misconceptions about what we do at Babestation. But for those who step behind the curtain, it becomes clear: this is a place where performance meets power, where fantasy meets hard work, and where confidence, creativity, and respect all share the stage.

We’re proud of what we create, proud of our presenters, and proud of the many talented individuals—like Kathryn—who help bring it all together, night after night.
