It’s no secret that the majority of porn users are men. In fact if you’re reading this blog right now, you’re probably a man and you’re probably on a break from choking the chicken as we speak.

For most men higher porn use is often thought to reduce sexual functioning with partners. “Porn Dick” is a term that gets bandied about to describe when a man is unable to achieve an erection with a partner because of over use of porn. For some men this might be true but what of women? Can a woman’s use of porn have an effect on her sexual function? According to a new study, published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, women it seems, have no such difficulty.

Eric W. Dolan at PsyPost.org writes, “The study provides evidence that pornography use among women is associated with several positive outcomes.”

Most recent data shows that women make up between 25% and 30% of worldwide porn consumers and growing. In this particular study, 2,433 women from Hungary and the United States were asked to complete an anonymous survey about their use of pornography as well as their experiences with masturbation and partnered sex. The authors of the study write that: “higher frequency of pornography use predicted greater sexual functioning across all outcome variables during masturbation, yet had no deleterious effects on sexual outcomes during partnered activity.”

Study author Sean M.McNabney, an adjunct instructor at Valparaiso University Indiana told PsyPost, “These findings challenge the common assumption that pornography is consistently harmful to partnered sexual relationships….We also observed no association between pornography and sexual relationship satisfaction, suggesting that the latter is influenced by other factors.” These other factors were found by the study to be not related to porn, rather to be “lower levels of educational attainment along with anxiety and depression.” So in other words women can more than keep up with men in the frequency of their masturbation habits and not have their partner relationships be affected at all.

And that’s not all! The study also showed that more frequent porn use by women was associated with, “less difficulty becoming aroused, less orgasmic difficulty, greater time to orgasm, greater orgasmic pleasure and higher percent of time reaching orgasm.” during masturbation. An incredible finding that just goes to show that the stigma of porn use among women is not only out of date thinking but goes against a woman’s natural ability to benefit from having a good ol’ wank.

Time to spread the word to women everywhere!
