Phil Barry certainly pushed the boat out to try and get publicity for his Freeview channel problem with the Playboy TV Freeview channel was it was a new EPG so people had to tune in and that was really a kiss of death in those days as babe channels didn’t automatically update like they do now so they lost a lot of money on it.
Elderly residents in North Devon have been branded the ‘naughtiest in the country’ – after a survey found they were the group most likely to call an adult TV station. A survey revealed that more senior citizens in the coastal region have called Playboy TV Chat for x-rated calls than any other area in the country. Philip Barry, the managing director of Playboy TV Chat, said that while a lot of the saucy calls to the TV station were from younger men returning from nights out, more experienced viewers were also picking up the phone, especially in North Devon.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Philip Barry, the managing director of Playboy TV Chat said:
‘We actively target our advertising at North Devon.’
‘We harvest the data from all the calls we receive at the station and most of them are coming from North Devon.’
‘You’re a naughty bunch down there,’ he said at the time.
We do wonder how much scientific analysis Mr Barry did to verify the origin of his phone sex callers particularly as a lot would have been from mobile phones. Later Mr Barry went on to claim that they targeted North Devon in their job advertisements and The Daily Mail claimed he was flooded with job applications.
