Songs about sex have been around since the birth of songwriting itself but some deal with the subject a little less figuratively than others.  In a recent interview with Kerrang magazine, Geezer Butler , the bassist for Black Sabbath expressed his feelings about Cardi B’s song WAP, he said of the U.K number one single, (an acronym for ‘Wet Ass Pussy’),  “It’s disgusting!….A friend of mine didn’t know what the song was about but his 10 year old girl was singing it.  I was like, ‘What!?’ To put it on an album, fair enough.  But to put it out as a single? That’s…a bit much.”

Yes, that’s Geezer Butler, the bassist of a band who’s music some have called Satanic and ‘Devil music’, worried about the explicit lyrics of Cardi B’s recent hit.  To be fair to him though, the rock legend does also admit later in the interview to not being in the target demographic for a song like that, calling himself a ‘bloody old goat’.
Songs about sex like Cardi B’s WAP have been dividing the opinion of listeners for decades, some see them as a form of expression and a strong statement of empowering sexual independence.  Others see them as crossing a line of what is acceptable in the mainstream.  Whatever side of the fence you stand on, Cardi B isn’t the first to bring out a controversial song such as this, and she definitely won’t be the last.  But until the next old goat baiting song comes out, let’s take a look back at some of the best and most dirty songs about sex to ever be released over the years.
